Step 1: Cool the Engine, Disconnect the Batteries, and Drain Coolant

  3. Remove the coolant reservoir cap only after the system is cold and no pressure remains.

Step 3: Remove the Turbocharger

  1. Apply penetrating oil to the turbo-to-downpipe and up-pipe V-band fasteners. Give it time to work.

Step 4: Remove the EGR Cooler

  1. Label the intake-manifold bolts by location. Different brackets may share the same area, and mixing hardware can slow down reassembly.
  2. Loosen the driver-side intake-manifold bolts as directed by the kit instructions. Remove the passenger-side bolts needed to lift the manifold.
  3. Disconnect the EGR cooler coolant hoses and remove the cooler mounting bolts.
  4. Separate the cooler from the exhaust and intake connections. Use light, controlled pressure. Do not pry against a sealing surface.
  5. Lift the intake manifold only as much as needed, then work the EGR cooler out through the front of the engine bay.

Step 5: Install the Block-Off and Coolant-Reroute Parts

  1. Install the supplied exhaust block-off plate at the up-pipe connection. Seat the V-band clamp evenly around the full joint before tightening it.
  2. Install the supplied coolant pipe, hose, or reroute fitting. Keep hoses away from sharp edges, the belt, and hot exhaust parts.
  3. Place each clamp behind the raised bead on the tube. Do not leave a clamp on the tapered edge of a fitting.
  4. Lightly lubricate the new intake-adapter O-ring with clean engine oil or the lubricant named in the kit instructions.
