Standard vs. SOTF: Choosing the Right EFILive AutoCal V3 Tuner

The standard version offers fixed tuning, requiring manual updates for any changes, making it suitable for users who need a single performance setting. In contrast, the SOTF (Shift on the Fly) version allows for real-time switching between multiple tuning modes while driving, providing flexibility for those who need to adjust performance quickly under varying conditions, such as towing or off-roading.

Uploading Off-Road Calibration to Your AutoCal Device:

1. Download Required Software:
   

   • Use a USB cable to connect your AutoCal device to a Windows 10 or newer PC.

Important: Update Your AutoCal Firmware Before Loading the New Off-Road Tune File. Failure to do so may result in compatibility issues and potential damage to your Engine Control Module (ECM).

Firmware Update Steps:

1. Update EFILive Software:
   

   • Open the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software.
   • Click on "Check for Updates" on the homepage. If an update is available, follow the prompts to install it.

   
   

2. Update Firmware and Configuration Files:
   

   • Within the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software, select "Check Firmware."
   • In the dialog box that appears, choose the options to update both the Firmware Version and the Configuration Files.

After completing these updates, your AutoCal device will be ready for reprogramming.

AutoCal Reprogramming Overview:

Note: Use EFILive Scan and Tune software for programming. Do not use Explorer unless specifically instructed.

Quick Setup Programming:

The Quick Setup method efficiently programs all necessary files to make your AutoCal functional. Your tuner should provide you with a .bbx quick setup file via email.

• Save the .bbx File:

1. Download and save the .bbx file from your tuner to the following directory:
   (1)Documents\EFILive\V8\BBX
   (2)Alternatively, you can save it to your Downloads or Desktop folder.

• Connect AutoCal to PC:

1. Attach your AutoCal device to your PC using a USB cable.
2. Launch the V8 Scan and Tune software.

• Load the Quick Setup File:

1. Navigate to [F5: BBX] -> [F6: Quick Setup] within the software.
2. Click on [Open Quick Setup] and locate the The .bbx file you saved earlier.

• Program the Device:

1. Avoid altering any settings unless directed by your tuner.
2. Select [Program Quick Setup] to transfer the device settings, controller configurations, and tune files to your AutoCal.

Special Note for 2018+ Cummins Off-Road Vehicles:

Before re-flashing your truck, ensure the bypass cable is installed.

Caution During Flashing Process:

While the flashing process is underway, refrain from interacting with any electronic accessories. This includes avoiding actions such as using the radio, opening or closing doors, or operating windows.

By carefully following these steps and precautions, you can successfully upload the new off-road calibration to your AutoCal device.

Q: Will EFI Live AutoCal V3 work with my Cummins or Duramax?

A: It supports 2006–2021 Dodge Ram Cummins and 2001–2016 Duramax trucks, including LB7, LLY, LBZ, LMM, and LML engines. Confirm your model, year, and engine before ordering.

Q: Will EFI Live AutoCal V3 work if my truck already has another tune?

A: Return the ECM to the factory calibration first whenever possible. If the original tuner is unavailable, the new calibration can overwrite the existing tune, but contact us to confirm your setup before flashing.

Q: Does the tuner save my stock file so I can return the truck to stock?

A: No. This package does not save a restorable stock tune. Obtain and keep the correct factory calibration before flashing if you may need to return the truck to stock.

Q: Is transmission tuning included for Cummins trucks?

A: Compatible 68RFE adjustments are written into the calibration rather than supplied as a separate file. The tune does not alter the Aisin transmission. Confirm your transmission before ordering.

Q: What transmission support is available for Duramax trucks?

A: For supported five-speed Allison applications, transmission-related adjustments are incorporated into the ECM tune to optimize line pressure for each power setting.

Q: Will the tune still work if the EGR valve and cooler are completely removed?

A: Yes. The off-road calibration supports full EGR removal, including disconnecting the EGR wiring. It will not hide diagnostic codes caused by unrelated mechanical or electrical faults.

Q: Is the 100 HP EFI Live AutoCal V3 tune suitable for a stock LML Duramax?

A: No additional engine modifications are required for the available 100 HP setting. However, repeated hard acceleration at the highest power level can increase transmission wear.

Q: Does SOTF work on LBZ and LML Duramax trucks?

A: DSP5/SOTF is available for supported 2001–2016 Duramax pickups. An EFI Live AutoCal V3 LML Duramax install requires the applicable electronic switching setup, so verify your configuration first.

Q: Can I load tunes from another tuner onto the AutoCal V3?

A: Yes, but you must purchase the appropriate EFILive unlock code first. The new tuner must then provide the codes and files required to link the device to their tuning system.

Q: Why is a bypass cable required for some Cummins trucks?

A: Applicable 2018–2021 Cummins trucks require the bypass cable before reflashing. Install it first, then follow the EFI Live AutoCal V3 Cummins install instructions to update the firmware and load the supplied BBX file.

Q: Will EFI Live AutoCal V3 Cummins tunes produce excessive smoke?

A: The calibrations are not designed to create smoke. Some smoke may occur during hard acceleration at higher power settings, depending on the truck, load, and mechanical condition.

Q: Can this EFI Live AutoCal V3 DPF delete tuner be used on public roads?

A: No. It is intended exclusively for off-road and competition vehicles. Removing or disabling emissions equipment may violate applicable laws; confirm local requirements before installation.
